Oniriks

Golden needles, natural pigments, gold, gilding and enamels inspired by Fabergé goldsmithing, Oniriks is Margharet's most luminous line of work.

Gold as memory

Oniriks brings together the large-format pieces in which gold occupies the absolute center of the composition. The collection takes as its starting point the Fabergé eggs, their meticulous craftsmanship, their precious surface and their promise of an object that holds something inside, and translates them to the scale of the canvas. Margharet works here, as in the rest of her work, without a brush: with her hands, with sticks, and with precision needles as fine as 0.25 mm, incorporating up to five distinct shades of gold, including 24-karat gold dissolved directly into the paint.

“I paint the way one embroiders: with my hands and the precision of the needle.”

In the interview she gave to the international portal CreativInn, Margharet defined this line as one of the four within her practice: Oniriks Art. She said she likes to watch how the golden tones embrace the other colors, letting colors with personality converge on a single surface, the same idea of chromatic coexistence that later unfolds across every canvas in the collection.

The result is surfaces of an almost goldsmith-like density, where the light shifts depending on the angle from which the piece is viewed, just as happens with the enamel and precious metal of an authentic Fabergé egg. There is no figuration or explicit narrative: the gesture and the layering of gold build a composition that reveals itself gradually, with time and with the light of the space that holds it.

These are pieces conceived to command an entire wall, and today they sit naturally both in soaring living rooms and in hallways and entrance halls where the gold acts almost as a light source of its own. Several of them belong to private collections in Spain, where they accompany contemporary interiors without losing their singular character.

Gold in motion

Alongside her canvases, Margharet also works in digital creation: she has experimented in the world of NFTs with pieces that carry that same golden essence, and her particular way of working with light, into animation.
